Biography
Adena has just come off a whirlwind 7 month cruise contract on the P&O Cruises MV Azura.
Her resume includes productions such as musicals Hairspray (Velma), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), Shrek (Princess Fiona), Godspell (Peggy), Cats (Jellylorum), and Chicago (Liz); operas Merry Wives of Windsor (Mrs. Page), Dido & Aeneas (Sorceress), Rusalka (Woodsprite, u/s Jezibaba) and Cosi Fan Tutte (u/s Dorabella); and theatre See Bob Run (Bob), Are You Watching Me Now (Frances Davis), with a background in the Canadian Improv Games.
She is a folk vocalist for Kittiwake Dance Theatre, has toured Canada with National Youth Choir under Maestro Ivars Taurins, collaborated with pianist Lisa Bokelmann-Sells as a jazz singer, and has worked with the MUN Jazz Ensemble under the direction of the incomparable, Billy Brennan.
Adena holds a Masters of Arts in Musical Theatre from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and has completed a Bachelors Degree in Music, focusing on Classical Vocal Performance study with Dr. Caroline Schiller at Memorial University of Newfoundland and graduate music courses at the MUN Harlow Campus. The summers of 2013 to 2015 were spent the touring the island with MUN Opera Roadshow and in July to August of 2014 she studied and performed with Halifax Summer Opera Festival (Wood Sprite and Jezibaba understudy - Rusalka).
An accomplished dancer, she practices many styles, having performed in multiple showcases and videos both home and traveling. She is proud to be a senior member of hiphop crew Soul Steps, reigning champions of the Atlantic street dance event Hustle to Get Here, and when in Newfoundland, works as a performer for Red Hot Productions, which holds Red Hot burlesque shows throughout the year.
Offstage she costumes and stage manages with companies such as Shakespeare By The Sea, and MUN Opera. Adena taught with The Performing Arts Group and Camp Hollywood for many years as an acting, singing, and dance instructor, and also taught private voice and piano lessons.
